ハードコアなメレー系アクションRPG「The Surge 2」の大型キャンペーンDLC「The Kraken」が1月16日に登場。ティザートレイラーが公開

　Focus Home Interactiveは，Deck 13 Interactiveが2019年にリリースしたSFアクションRPG最新作「The Surge 2」（PC / PlayStation 4 / Xbox One）で，初の大型キャンペーンDLCとなる「The Kraken」を各プラットフォーム向けに2020年1月16日にリリースすると発表し，ティザートレイラーを公開した。


　The Krakenの詳細については明らかにされていないが，本編の舞台であるジェリーチョの街の郊外で，退役した巨大空母VBS Krakowの内部や周囲に建設されたリゾート施設が新たなマップとして拡張され，ここに海賊化したロボット集団が襲い掛かってくるという設定のようだ。公開されたトレイラーからは，“クラーケン”なるものの全体像までは確認できないが，何本もの巨大なメカ触手が空を覆う不気味な世界観になっていることがわかる。


　1950年代から60年代にかけて登場した“B級SF映画”を未来風にアレンジしつつ，どこか「Fallout」シリーズで核戦争が起こる前の，もしくは「Call of Duty」シリーズのニュークタウン風の“古き良き時代”的なアメリカの郊外生活がテーマになっている印象だ。昨年12月にPlayStation 4向けにリリースされたばかりの日本語版にも対応するのかは現時点でアナウンスされていないが，“ダークソウル風”と言われながらも独自の世界観と，ゲーム性を発展し続けることで，高い評価を得ている本作の続報には期待したいところだ。
