人類誕生までの歴史をたどる「Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey」の最新トレイラーが公開

　「アサシン クリード」の生みの親として知られるゲームデザイナー，パトリス・デジーレ（Patrice Désilets）氏が率いるPanache Digital Gamesは，開発中の新作タイトル「Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey」の最新トレイラーを公開した。

　「Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey」は，まだ猿人にもなっていない，ごく初期の人類の一団を率いて，食糧を確保したり獰猛な動物と戦ったりしながらジャングルからサバンナに生活圏を広げ，進化していくというユニークな作品だ。リーダーが戦いやケガで死んでも，ほかのメンバーを操作してプレイを続けることが可能になっており，また，集団が大きくなりすぎると食料確保が難しくなり，少なくても種の継続が危機に陥るなど，アクションとアドベンチャー，そしてシミュレーション要素をあわせ持ったシステムになっている。


　公開されたトレイラーでは，ゲーム内で「トラバーサル」と呼ばれる移動方法について説明が行われており，東京オリンピックの出場選手候補であるロッククライマーのアラーナ・イップ（Alannah Yip）さんの実演映像と音声を交えつつ，ゲーム内では「すべての樹木や崖に登ることができる」といったことが紹介されている。枝をつかむこともできるし，高所から飛び降りるときに葉の生い茂る部分をクッションとして利用したり，スイングして別の木に飛び移ったりすることなども可能だという。トレイラーでイップさんは，「本当のロッククライミングと同様，慣れてくると，移動しながら次に行くべき場所が見えてくる」と語っている。


　2019年5月24日に掲載した記事でもお伝えしたように，PC版はEpic Gamesストアのエクスクルーシブタイトルとして8月27日にリリースされる予定。また，PS4版とXbox One版は12月の発売が予定されている。
