猿人からヒトへの進化を描き上げるアクションADV「Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey」のゲームプレイトレイラーが公開

　アサシンクリードの生みの親として知られるゲームデザイナー，パトリス・デジーレ氏が率いるPanache Digital Gamesの新作「Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey」（PC / PS4 / Xbox One）。そのゲームプレイトレイラーがリリースされ，Steamのストアページ（https://store.steampowered.com/app/536270/Ancestors_The_Humankind_Odyssey/）も公開された。プラットフォームはPCのほか，PlayStation 4，Xbox Oneにも対応し，2019年内に発売予定となる。


　本作は，1000万年前から200万年前までの時代において，我々の先祖が猿人からヒトへと進化していく過程を描き上げたという作品で，人類悠久の歴史にスポットライトをあてた野心作になりそうだ。
　今回のトレイラーでも，樹上生活をしていた猿人が生活の場を地上に変え，棒を手にした仲間達と共に猛獣と戦う様子が描かれている。近年の研究では，この時代から石器も利用されていたとされるが，本作ではまったく手つかずの自然の中を探索し，徐々に生活圏を広めながらも目の前にある状況に対処し，新たな知識を得て進化していく様子を体験していくことになりそうだ。


　つまりは，プレイヤーの経験や発見が，アルディピテクスやアウストラロピテクスといった新種族を生み出すことになり，どのようなヒト科が誕生するのかはプレイヤー次第となる。そういった結果を比べ合うのが楽しいゲームになるかもしれない。猿人をプレイするアクションアドベンチャーゲームという切り口が独特なだけに，リリースされるのが楽しみである。
