女子サッカーの実装に向けたプロジェクトの着手を発表

株式会社セガ（本社：東京都品川区、代表取締役社長 COO：杉野行雄、以下 セガ）の開発子会社である Sports Interactive Ltd.（本社：イギリス・ロンドン）は、同社が展開するサッカークラブ経営シミュレーションゲーム『Football Manager』シリーズにおいて、女子サッカークラブ経営の要素を実装するための複数年にわたるプロジェクトに着手すると 2021年7月23日（金、現地時間）に発表しました。

『Football Manager』シリーズは、選手の獲得からトレーニング、戦術などサッカークラブの経営シミュレーションが楽しめる PC／家庭用ゲーム機向けゲームシリーズで、オリジナルの男子サッカークラブ、選手に加えて実在のクラブや選手なども多数登場します。全世界でのシリーズ累計販売本数は 2,200万本を突破しています。


この度のプロジェクトは、女子サッカークラブの経営をテーマとした新たなゲームの開発ではなく、同一作品において従来の男子サッカークラブ経営と、女子サッカークラブの経営を楽しめるゲームの開発を目指すものです。なお、女子サッカーが実装される作品の発売時期は未定ですが、決まり次第改めて発表いたします。

“We have NO interest whatsoever in making a standalone women’s football version of FM. What we are doing is adding women’s football to FM... one sport, one game.We know that adding women’s football to FM is going to cost in the millions and that the short-term return it delivers will be minimal. But that’s not the point. There’s no hiding that there’s currently a glass ceiling for women’s football and we want to do what we can to help smash through it. We believe in equality for all and we want to be part of the solution.
We want to be a part of the process that puts women’s football on an equal footing with the men’s game. We know that we’re not alone in this - the historic TV deal that Sky and the BBC recently agreed with WSL in England is proof of that - but we intend to do everything we can to get women’s football to where it deserves to be.”
