期待のFPS「RAGE」の紹介ムービーが公開に。第1弾は20周年を迎えたid Softwareの“レガシー”について

　欧米では2011年10月4日に発売予定のFPS「RAGE」（PC/PS3/Xbox 360）にて，全6回にわたって本作を紹介するムービーが公開された。その第1回目となる今回は，今年で設立から20周年を迎えたid Softwareの“レガシー”（遺産／伝統）について，開発者達が語るという内容だ。


　「DOOM」シリーズや「Quake」シリーズなどによって，1人称カメラ視点でスピーディなアクションが展開する，FPSというジャンルそのものを築き上げたid Software。そんな同社が久々に発表した新IPが，同社の第5世代FPSエンジン「id Tech 5」を使って開発が進められているRAGEである。

　本作は，巨大な隕石の墜落によって文明の崩壊した2038年の地球を舞台に，バギーで疾走するレースゲーム風な要素や，RPG的なアップグレードの要素も取り入れているなど，id Softwareの意欲を感じられるタイトルだ。日本での発売は発表されていないものの，FPSファンなら要チェックの1本と言えるだろう。
