「BioShock」実写版の制作が発表に。廃墟となった海底都市を舞台にした名作FPS

　アメリカの映像配信大手Netflixは現地時間2022年2月15日，2KおよびTake-Two Interactiveと提携して，ゲーム「BioShock」の実写映像作品を制作すると発表した。リメイク版「ザ・リング」や「THE JUON/呪怨」で知られるロサンゼルスの映像制作会社，Vertigo Entertainmentと2Kが協力して制作を担当する。

'BioShock' Film Adaptation Headed to Netflix

　2007年にリリースされた「BioShock」は，自らの意思とは関わりなく，海底都市「ラプチャー」に閉じ込められてしまった主人公が，脱出を目指して戦うシングルプレイ専用のFPSだ。複雑なストーリーや，戦略が要求されるバトルシステム，アートワークの美しさなどから人気を集め，2010年には続編となる「BioShock 2」が，また2013年には，舞台を空中都市「コロンビア」に変更した「BioShock Infinite」がリリースされている。
　映像化については，2008年5月12日に掲載した記事でお伝えしたように，ヒット直後には映画化の話があったものの，プロジェクトはその後，中止になったようだ。

　新たな実写版「BioShock」の詳細は今のところ発表されておらず，配役や配信時期，あるいは単発なのかシリーズ作品なのかといったことも不明だが，公開された画像からは，「BioShock」または「BioShock 2」がベースになることが分かる。
　リトル・シスターやビッグ・ダディがどのように映像化されるのか，中盤に出てくるゲームならではのちょっとしたドンデン返しはどのように翻案されるのかなど，新作制作の噂も聞こえてくる中，ファンにとっては楽しみなニュースが増えたようだ。
