NYのオフブロードウェイ劇場で，ゲームをテーマにした演劇が発表に

　オフブロードウェイと呼ばれる，ニューヨークにある小規模の劇場の一つThe Brick Theaterで，ビデオゲームを取り入れた演劇が開幕される。

　GAME PLAYと題された公演の中で行われるのは，1980年代に発売されたアドベンチャーゲーム「Adventure Quest」を取り入れた「ADVENTURE QUEST」と，「World of Warcraft」と演劇がミックスする「THANK YOU, BUT OUR PRINCESS IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE」だ。

　「ADVENTURE QUEST」は，悪い魔法使いによって危機にさらされている王国を救おうと，一人の男が立ち上がるというストーリーで，1980年代〜1990年代前半にかけて発売された同名のアドベンチャーゲームをフィーチャーした内容だ。演劇の背景には，ゲームシーンを思わせる背景がスクリーンに投影され，ゲームの一シーンが再現されるようだ。

　「THANK YOU, BUT OUR PRINCESS IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE」は，一般のゲーマーに劇場で「World of Warcraft」「Halo 3」「Grand Theft Auto 4」をプレイしてもらい，観客はスクリーンに投影されたゲーム画面を観るという不思議なスタイルで演じられる。

　The Brick Theaterでは，このほかにも劇場でMMORPGをプレイする“MMORPG Night”や，ロックバンドをバックにカラオケをしようという“Rock Band Karaoke”など，一風変わった催し物を行っている。
　これらはすべて2009年7月中に開催される予定のようだ。
