［GDC 2019］「Game Developers Choice Awards」の大賞は「ゴッド・オブ・ウォー」に

　北米時間の2019年3月20日，カリフォルニア州サンフランシスコで行われているゲーム開発者向けイベント「Game Developers Conference 2019」で，毎年恒例となっている「Game Developers Choice Awards」が開催された。

　今年で19回目を迎えるこのイベントでは，ゲーム開発者達が選んだ優れたゲームに賞が贈られる。その大賞となるのが「Game of the Year」であり，今回ノミネートされたのは，「Red Dead Redemption 2」「Return of the Obra Dinn」「Marvel's Spider-Man」「Celeste」「God of War」と，どれも話題を集めた作品ばかり。とくに，トリプルA作品群と肩を並べている「Return of the Obra Dinn」と「Celeste」は，この時点ですでに大健闘といえる。

　そんな「Game Developers Conference 2019」の結果は以下のとおりだ。

　今年のGame of the Yearに選ばれたのは，PlayStation 4用ソフト「God of War」（邦題：ゴッド・オブ・ウォー）だ。本作はすでにさまざまな賞を受けており，まさに2018年を代表する大作といえるだろう。

　また，ゲーム業界の発展に大きな影響を及ぼした人を讃える「Pioneer Award」は，セガゲームスの小玉理恵子氏に送られた。小玉氏は会場で公開されたビデオレターで，開発者人生の中で一番印象に残っているゲームに「チャンピオンボクシング」を挙げ，当時の経験を振り返りつつ，関係者とファンに感謝を述べた。
