e-Sportsイベント「World Cyber Games 2006」正式種目が発表に

　世界最大級のe-Sportsイベント「World Cyber Games」（WCG）の2006年大会で使用されるゲームが，公式サイトのニュースページで発表された。
　6タイトルのPCゲーム（「StarCraft: Brood War」「Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne」「Counter-Strike 1.6」「Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault」「FIFA Soccer 06」「Need for Speed Most Wanted」）と，2タイトルのXbox用ゲーム（「DEAD OR ALIVE 4」「Project Gotham Racing 3」）の計8タイトルが，正式種目として選出された。
　なお，2005年大会の後に選手達から寄せられた要望に基づいて，Counter-Strikeの最新版「Source」ではなく，バージョン1.6の採用を決めたとのことだ。

　WCG2006の決勝大会は，イタリアのモンツァで10月に開催される予定で，今後，ヨーロッパ，アジア，アメリカの各地域で実施される予選大会を勝ち抜いた選手達によって，熱い戦いが繰り広げられる。
　ヨーロッパ予選は，3月19日に開幕するCeBit 2006の会場内で実施され，ヨーロッパの20の国々から，200人以上の選手達が集う大規模な大会になる見通し。またアジア大会とパンアメリカ大会は，シンガポール，メキシコで開かれるPC関連の展示会において，それぞれ実施される予定だ。
